Kanchan Cashmere began in 2008 with a simple belief: exceptional knitwear is created through patience, material knowledge, and respect for craft. From our home in Kathmandu, Nepal, we have grown from a focused atelier into a trusted partner for brands that value refined cashmere, thoughtful development, and disciplined production.

Our work is shaped by the atmosphere around us — the calm of the Himalayan foothills, the measured rhythm of Nepalese craftsmanship, and the understanding that true luxury is rarely loud. It is found in proportion, touch, restraint, and the care taken before a garment reaches the hand of its wearer.

Today, we develop and manufacture cashmere knitwear for boutique brands, independent designers, private-label programs, and premium buyers across Europe, North America, Canada, the United Kingdom, and global luxury markets. Every collaboration begins with listening: to the brand, to the fibre, to the garment, and to the season it is meant to serve.

The Material

Every garment begins with fibre.

Before a stitch is formed, the character of the garment is already present in the yarn. The softness, drape, loft, recovery, warmth, and long-term performance of cashmere depend on choices made at the very beginning.

We work with specialist yarn partners including Cariaggi, Consinee, and Top Line, selecting pure cashmere and considered luxury blends for their handfeel, continuity, colour depth, and suitability for each program. A fine-gauge layer, a sculptural cardigan, a brushed cashmere piece, a recycled cashmere story, or a cashmere-silk garment each requires its own technical balance.

For us, material is never a marketing detail. It is the foundation of the garment. We choose yarn for how it lives — how it holds shape, accepts finishing, responds to wear, and supports the quiet elegance our buyers expect from luxury cashmere.

The Craft

Craftsmanship is the invisible luxury behind every piece.

A cashmere garment is felt before it is studied, but its quality is revealed through detail: the clean join at a shoulder, the balance of a rib, the recovery of a cuff, the fall of a sleeve, the stability of a neckline, and the way the garment returns to shape after finishing.

In our Kathmandu atelier, skilled Nepalese hands work alongside technical knitwear knowledge. Knitting gives the garment its structure. Linking gives it integrity. Washing and blocking bring the yarn to life. Final finishing gives the piece its calm, refined presence.

This is not production alone. It is interpretation. We translate a designer’s idea into a garment that protects the fibre, respects proportion, and carries the identity of the brand it represents.

The Atelier

Our atelier is located in Kathmandu, where the pace of craft and the discipline of export manufacturing meet. This place gives our work its balance: human touch, quiet focus, and the ability to serve international brands with care and consistency.

We support a wide range of cashmere programs — from small-batch development and capsule collections to larger seasonal orders. Our role is to help buyers move from first idea to finished garment with clarity: yarn selection, swatch direction, sample refinement, technical feasibility, production planning, quality control, and shipment readiness.

For many brands, Nepal offers more than a production base. It offers a story of craft with real substance. At Kanchan Cashmere, that story is supported by disciplined systems, documented development, and a long-term commitment to quality.

Beyond Manufacturing

We help brands build cashmere collections.

The strongest collaborations begin before bulk production. We work with buyers to understand the collection direction, target handfeel, price architecture, season, silhouettes, gauge preference, and long-term repeat potential.

Our development support includes swatches, stitch exploration, yarn recommendations, proto sampling, fit refinement, private-label execution, packaging coordination, and production planning. This allows brands to approach cashmere with confidence rather than uncertainty.

We do not see each order as an isolated transaction. We build programs that can be repeated, recoloured, refined, and expanded over time. For premium buyers, this continuity is where real value is created.
