DEVELOPMENT & SAMPLING

Development Is Where Controlled Luxury Production Begins

From yarn, machine gauge and swatch engineering to fit, PP approval and a production-ready reference — we develop cashmere knitwear in Kathmandu for international B2B programmes.

Cashmere knitwear development and sampling at Kanchan Cashmere in Nepal

WHERE THE PRODUCT BEGINS

A strong bulk product is engineered before it is produced.

Development connects creative intent with material, knit engineering, fit, cost and production reality.

At Kanchan Cashmere, sampling is not treated as an isolated sample-room exercise. Each decision is made with the eventual bulk product in mind: yarn availability, yarn count, machine gauge, structure, weight, measurements, handfeel, finishing, target price, delivery window and repeatability.

The objective is not to create more samples. It is to remove uncertainty stage by stage until buyer and production share the same clear reference.

BEFORE THE FIRST SAMPLE

Feasibility is reviewed early — not after multiple sample rounds.

A good brief connects design and commercial reality before development time and yarn are committed.

Design & ConstructionSilhouette, measurements, stitch structure, neckline, sleeve, ribs, details and technical risks.
Yarn & Machine GaugeMaterial, yarn count, colour, availability, 3GG–16GG suitability and intended handfeel.
Commercial ParametersTarget quantity, MOQ, target price, yarn consumption, complexity and required delivery window.
DocumentationTech pack, reference sample, comments, trims, packing and project-specific quality requirements.

DEVELOPMENT & APPROVAL FLOW

Every stage has a defined decision function.

The sequence creates an increasingly reliable reference before yarn and capacity are committed to bulk.

StageSwatchYarn, machine gauge, structure, weight, handfeel and finishing direction.
StageProtoConstruction, silhouette, base measurements and technical interpretation.
StageFitProportion, sleeve balance, neckline, body length and size comments.
StageSMSSales samples for showroom, campaign, wholesale and market feedback.
StagePPFinal bulk reference for yarn, measurements, trims, wash and finishing.
StageBulkControlled production, AQL 2.5 inspection, packing and export from Nepal.

HANDFEEL & FINISHING

Softness alone is not a sufficient development standard.

Cashmere should be soft, but it must also preserve shape, surface, dimensional stability and the intended character of the product.

WashWash parameters are aligned with yarn, structure and intended surface.
Blocking & MeasurementMeasurements and proportions are controlled after finishing against the approved specification.
SurfaceBrushing, de-pilling and pressing are used to achieve the intended handfeel without over-processing.
Bulk ReferenceThe approved finish becomes part of the PP standard for bulk production.

The quality of bulk production is materially shaped by the quality of development.

PRODUCTION READINESS

PP approval is the bridge between development and bulk.

Before production begins, the critical product and process parameters must be clear. The approved reference is not inspiration; it is the controlled bulk standard.

ProductMeasurements, construction, fit, yarn, colour, structure and weight.
FinishingWash, blocking, pressing, handfeel, surface and dimensional stability.
Trims & PackingLabels, buttons, accessories, folding, packing and project-specific requirements.
Quality ReleaseAQL 2.5 unless otherwise agreed, plus approved buyer requirements.

WHY DEVELOPMENT MATTERS COMMERCIALLY

Better development protects product, calendar and margin.

Less UncertaintyTechnical and commercial questions are resolved before bulk.
Purposeful SamplingEach round answers defined questions rather than accumulating changes without a clear objective.
Better Cost ControlWeight, yarn consumption, complexity and finishing are aligned with target price and product value.
Reorderable StandardsApproved technical references support reorders and season-to-season continuity.

KANCHAN CASHMERE DEVELOPMENT

Luxury is refined before it is produced.

Swatch, prototype, fit, handfeel, PP approval and production standard are not separate tasks. They form one connected development chain that prepares the eventual bulk result.

YOUR NEXT CASHMERE PROGRAMME

Start with a clear development route — not simply a sample request.

Share your design direction, tech pack or references, yarn preference, target quantity, target price and delivery window. We will review feasibility, knit engineering, sampling and production preparation.

Develop clarity first. Then produce with control.
