Hand-Feel with Substance
We look for softness with body — a luxurious touch that still carries structure, recovery and durability.
Material Philosophy
Exceptional cashmere begins long before the first stitch. At Kanchan Cashmere, we select yarn for fibre integrity, hand-feel, structure, continuity and enduring luxury performance. Every material decision is guided by craftsmanship, longevity and the expectations of premium knitwear collections.
Our Approach
Cashmere is judged first by touch, but its true luxury is revealed over time — in the way a neckline holds, a rib recovers, a surface ages gracefully, and a garment remains beautiful after repeated wear. Our material philosophy begins with this long view. We do not select yarn only for immediate softness; we balance softness with resilience, stitch definition, colour depth, drape and long-term performance.
Every yarn is considered in relation to the garment it will become. A light 14GG layer, a sculptural 5GG cable, a soft travel wrap and a refined cashmere-silk cardigan each ask for a different material decision. Our role is to guide that decision carefully, so the final piece feels luxurious, behaves predictably in production, and remains aligned with the brand’s retail promise.
Fibre First
We begin by reviewing the character of the fibre: length, fineness, loft, natural lustre and recovery. A beautiful cashmere garment needs more than softness alone. It needs the right fibre behaviour for the gauge, the stitch structure, the washing process and the intended use of the garment.
Selection Principles
We look for softness with body — a luxurious touch that still carries structure, recovery and durability.
The same yarn does not suit every gauge. We match count and twist to the stitch, silhouette and final weight.
Core shades must be repeatable. Seasonal colours are reviewed for depth, clarity and availability before planning.
We consider how yarn reacts after washing, blocking and finishing, because this is where true garment quality is proven.
Certification language is used carefully. We confirm scope before making any sustainability or traceability statement.
Curated Yarn Network
Our public materials story is intentionally focused. These three core yarn partners are selected for exceptional quality, continuity, innovation and the ability to support refined cashmere knitwear programs across seasons.
Chosen for its renowned Italian cashmere expertise, exceptional hand-feel and refined colour palette. Cariaggi yarns support our most elevated cashmere and cashmere–silk developments, delivering softness, drape and enduring luxury for premium knitwear collections.

Chosen for creative luxury yarns, contemporary textures and innovative cashmere–silk constructions. Top Line enables distinctive knitwear developments that combine modern design expression with exceptional comfort and softness.
From Yarn to Garment
A yarn is not approved only on the cone. We study how it behaves after knitting, linking, washing, drying, blocking and final inspection. This is why sampling is central to our material philosophy. The swatch tells us texture; the prototype tells us proportion; the finished garment tells us whether the material is truly right.
Material Language
Responsibility
We keep sustainability language factual. Many material routes can be supported through recognised schemes such as OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, GOTS, GRS, OCS and SFA via certified partners. Before making any claim, we check the certificate scope, product coverage and buyer requirement so that communication remains accurate and credible.
“The right yarn does not simply make a garment softer. It gives the garment its memory, movement and quiet strength.”
